What is USB 3.0?

What is this technology, and how is it different from USB 2.0?

USB 3.0 is the name of the third technological ‘standard’ of Universal Serial Bus, which allows computers and devices to connect to transfer data, files, photos, and charge. The most significant feature of USB 3.0 is its increased speed, which lets you move information from one place to another much faster.

Why Use Promotional USB 3.0?

We can all agree that exchanging information is important. But what if you are in a rush? Devices enabled with USB 3.0 can transfer data at a rate up to ten times faster than the previous version of USB. This advanced transfer rate is known as SuperSpeed, and it’s the difference between ten minutes and sixty seconds. USB 3.0 may be the key to making that deadline on time!

Unlike the single-channel system of USB 2.0, the newer version features dual channels through a higher number of pins. These additional five pins make up the dual-style channels, which help speed up the time it takes to convey data.

The superior power management of USB 3.0 technology is another tangible advantage, as your device won’t use as much power from its host to do the same amount of work as a USB 2.0 device. This makes the newer version much more energy efficient.

Will a USB 3.0 device still work with an earlier version?

USB 3.0 is backward compatible, so you can still use a USB 3.0 plug with interfaces with the prior USB 2.0 version. You won’t have to update all your existing technologies, but things will run a little slower than SuperSpeed.

How can I tell the difference?

Aside from the noticeably swifter rate at which your data is transmitted, USB 3.0 can be visually distinguished by the blue colour used by manufacturers, which may be seen in the USB port and plug.
